Green Rock Industrial Business Park is located at Bowen Road and Dufferin Crescent in Central Nanaimo.  It is the first ‘green’ subdivision on  Vancouver  Island  and  is comprised of 23 acres of land that  is  unique  in  its  use  of bio-swale rainwater management  systems  and  the  retention  and  planting  of  natural vegetation that will be maintained  through  automated irrigation  only  until  a  root system  is  established.    The application  of  these  green initiatives  in  an  industrial setting  will  appeal  to  businesses  who  are  interested  in expanding  their  sustainability  efforts  to  their  location.

Special Features

  • Irrigation system tests soil moisture content and adjusts automatically to provide only the amount of water that is required.  System is only in place to allow young plants to develop a root system, after which it won’t be required
  • Roadside bioswales for rainwater management
  • Use of absorbent landscape soils and retention of a large portion of native plant life
