As part of the revitalization of Nanaimo’s downtown core, a major renovation was undertaken to Port Place starting in 2010. Several tenants (including BC Liquor Store, Lifelabs, Medical Arts Centre, and CIBC) completed upgrades to their spaces as part of the renovation process.
One of the phases of the project included the new stand-alone TD Bank building on the south end of the property, another the demolition of approximately 95,000 sq ft of the original mall to make way for High Street, which now links Terminal Avenue and Front Street. The most recent phase (completed in 2014) is located across High Street from the main mall, and houses tenants such as Mosaic Forest Management, The Pantry, and Noodlebox.
